Nitrous Oxide
Nitrous oxide, often referred to as laughing gas, is a widely used and effective way to ease mild to moderate anxiety in children during dental visits. It is administered through a small mask that fits comfortably over the nose, helping your child relax while staying fully awake and able to interact. Your child will be instructed to breathe through their nose, allowing the gas to take effect while they remain aware and communicative.
Once the procedure is complete, the dentist will switch to regular oxygen, and the effects of the nitrous oxide will quickly wear off.
